When our founder, Doug Evans, moved to the Mojave Desert, he quickly realized that not only was he in a desert, but he was in a food desert. Being a mostly raw vegan, this was a predicament. As a solution, he started sprouting a significant portion of his food- giving him virtually unlimited access to fresh, organic vegetables. Unsure if it was healthy to eat so many sprouts, he reached out to his network of doctors to get their opinions (they emphatically said it was perfectly safe). Doug used those conversations and other research as the basis for his first book, The Sprout Book- now a bestseller on Amazon. Doug is on a mission to bring sprouts to the rest of us. The Sprouting Company is his vehicle for this mission.
People have been sprouting for millennia- the basic principles haven’t changed. Seeds + Water = baby plants. The Sprouting Company is creating next generation sprouting equipment, designed for modern day kitchens and lifestyles.
Convenient:
A product can be beautiful, highly advanced, and well built- but if it doesn’t blend into people’s lives, it isn’t going to be used consistently. We’ve worked hard to consider the entire customer journey of our products- all in the service of our customers and our planet.
Clean:
We understand that people choose sprouts because they want to be healthier. Clean food. Clean living. Clean equipment. For us cleanliness is more than an aspiration, it is a product requirement. We design our sprouting products with an unparalleled level of attention to food safety.
Responsible:
Eating mostly plants is one of the best things an individual can do for the planet. Sprouting takes this to the next level via countertop agriculture, reducing carbon footprint previously occupied by shipping heavy and perishable, water laden products around the world. Our equipment also opts for recycled and recyclable materials when viable. We’ll be continually improving here.
Equitable:
Everybody should have access to fresh, organic vegetables at an affordable price. Sprouting inherently makes this possible. The Sprouting Company is evaluating initiatives to help us take sprouts to more people who may need even more accessibility.
